As a photojournalist, James Quigg was the chief photographer for the Daily Press from 2003 to 2019 and continues as a freelance photographer. Now he teaches photography at Excelsior Charter schools preparing the next generation of visual storytellers. For the Daily Press, he covered some of the most memorable moments in the High Desert and the Inland Empire, including the San Bernardino Terror Attack, the 36,000 Acre Blue Cut fire, and a visit from President George W. Bush.
After 20 years of never starting work in the same place twice and never commuting the same road, James walked right back into a high school classroom, which he once dreamed of escaping.
James will talk about shifting focus from being a full-time photographer to a full-time photography teacher.
