Elena Mariel Acuna is a student leader at the Academy for Academic Excellence serving as President of the Associated Student Body and Vice President of both the LCER Student Ambassadors and National Honor Society. She is enrolled in dual-college coursework through Victor Valley College on a Math and Science Nursing pathway. When she’s not juggling school and leadership responsibilities, Elena is a varsity volleyball captain, active community volunteer, passionate advocate for service-based leadership, and enjoys cooking/baking, traveling with family, and finding meaningful ways to connect with people across generations.
Elena is passionate about exploring the impact of doomscrolling because she sees its effects firsthand among students and adults. Her talk examines why negative content captures our attention, how constant exposure affects mental well-being and productivity, and how intentional scrolling can be transformed into a more informed and balanced habit. She believes awareness is the first step toward healthier digital leadership.
