This Won't Take Long: The Power of Ten

Kathie Kurt is happily in her retirement era, having worked as a government communications manager for nearly 25 years, most recently with the Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency. She was with the Town of Apple Valley for 17 years prior, after starting her career in the recreation field. Retirement means hours to devote to creative hobbies such as miniatures, watercolor, crafting and building z-scale train layouts with her husband, John. She also volunteers weekly to help lead craft projects for seniors. She and John enjoy traveling, concerts and plays, and Kathie supports his golf habit by occasionally serving as his caddy. Their blended family includes four kids and three grandkids.

Kathie explores the power of small beginnings and the surprising impact of consistency over time. Reflecting on a decade of life changes, they all boil down to the courage to start. Through the simple framework of “ten seconds, ten minutes, ten weeks, ten months,” learn how tiny, manageable actions can reshape identity. It’s not about dramatic transformation overnight, but about stacking small moments of intention. You’re invited to reconsider time, release perfectionism, and take the first step toward something meaningful. Because starting doesn’t take long—and it might just change everything.
